Our Story
Tannura Family Wines honors our Italian heritage by crafting small-lot wines from traditional Italian grape varieties grown in California vineyards.
Tannura Family Wines is a family passion project started by Gordon (father) and Nick (son) Tannura. What began as a general curiosity to learn more about wine blossomed into a career in the alcohol industry for Nick. After working for a number of commercial wineries, Nick started a small personal garage-winery at his San Francisco residence while he was pursuing a career as a wine, beer, and spirits retail buyer. Gordon, having recently retired from a successful career in IT, was fond of the idea of making some wine with his son, and thus, Tannura Family Wines was formed. After a few years of making wine in the garage, it was clear they had outgrown their garage winery and began searching for a bonded winemaking facility. They are currently producing their wines at a Magnolia Wine Services with the supervision of Jack Sporer and his amazing team, and are thrilled to make their wine in a community of passionate small-scale wine producers.
The decision to work with only Italian grapes is partly due to their Sicilian heritage, but also due to Nick’s fascination with Italian varieties - there are over 2,000 indigenous grape varieties in Italy!
